Lost Little Doll

"What a precious thing you are," he'd coo.

"All by yourself? Not even a dress to behold? Well, now, that won't do." With a loving lift into his arms, that tailor brought the doll home and cleaned her up from the filth and rain. Chipped porcelain was bestowed its very own dress, in fact --

woven for none but her.

It all made that little doll smile. Others had not loved her, its true, but one friend was just as good as many. One friend was all she could ever dream of.

Happy in her new home, that little doll
found all the love she'd ever asked for.
