The Sun King

And so, as the story goes...

A time once dwelled where there was one to rule the lands, one King self proclaimed as true. He sat in the skies and called himself the Sun, and so brightly he shined that all would see him. That which he wanted, he was given. That which he didn't, was forgotten. He ruled his land without a care -- until one day, a maiden's melody reached him in the skies.

She sang so sweet and soft, life in her voice and breath in her lungs. He gazed down from above, her hood wrapped tight and her song ever strong. "Maiden," he declared, "Maiden, come here." A demand, indeed, and she looked to the sky. "Sing me a song." But she only smiled and shook her head.

"No, good Sun, I will not. I sing for none but I."
